Today, I am sharing with you a very simple recipe of Atta laddoo or Whole wheat Laddoo using only a few ingredients recipe. These laddoos are made with Atta, which is Whole wheat flour that is used to make roti, chapati or paratha. As winter approaches, this atta laddoo makes a perfect wholesome snack for kids and adults. Atta laddoo is a very much North Indian wintertime sweet dish. It is made with whole wheat flour, sugar or jaggery, and ghee. It is believed that atta keeps the body warm, so it is mostly prepared during harsh winter.
These Laddoos are made by roasting whole wheat flour and ghee until a pleasant aroma emerges. It is then cooled and mixed with powdered sugar or powdered jaggery. You can make this laddoo in significant variations to enhance its nutritional value or make it rich. It can be added with powdered khoya, milk powder, dry fruits, dry coconut, poppy seeds or roasted and crushed makhana. So you can make these Laddoos with almost anything you have in hand. Dry fruits are optional in this recipe; if you want to add nuts, toast them until they get crunchy. Treat your family and friends with these delicious and easy-to-make Laddoos.

2. Ingredients
- 1 cup Atta or whole wheat flour
- ½ cup + 1 tablespoon powder sugar or jaggery powder.
- ½ cup ghee
- ½ cup mixed dry fruits(almond, cashew, raisins and pistachios)
- 1 tablespoon of milk powder(optional)
- ½ green cardamom powder teaspoon
3. Step by step method
- Blend sugar or jaggery in a blender. Grind to a fine powder and keep aside.
- Heat one teaspoon of ghee in a thick bottom pan. Add chopped dry fruits and fry for a few minutes or until they turn golden. Remove them to a plate and set aside.
- Add Atta and begin to roast on a medium flame for 10 minutes. Keep stirring continuously.
- You will notice the atta colour begins to deepen, and a nice and nutty aroma comes out.
- Add ghee to the atta and mix it well.
- Reduce the flame to the lowest and keep stirring until it turns to a deep golden colour. At this stage, you can add dry milk powder and dry fruits. Mix it well.
- You will notice a nice aroma in your kitchen.
- Stop cooking and set this aside to cool down.
- Add powdered sugar or jaggery and cardamom powder.
- Now mix everything well until uniform.
- At this stage, the Atta laddoo mixture will be quite greasy and can be easy to roll. If not, then add one tablespoon of ghee and knead the mixture a little more to release the ghee, or you can use a blender to blend the mixture.
- When the mixture is still hot and heat is tolerable, Grease your palm and take a lemon-sized portion of the mixture. Press down gently to shape them into balls.
- You can make about 12 Atta laddoos from the mixture.
- Store them in an air-tight container for longer use.
4. Tips
- Keep stirring the Atta so it doesn’t get burnt while roasting.
- If you are using dry fruits, fry them before adding to the mixture.
- Use good quality ghee as it increases the flavour and aroma of the laddoo.
- Cardamom powder is optional for the recipe, but it is good for digestion.
- 2 laddoos and a glass of milk is a complete meal itself.
- Store them in a refrigerator in an air-tight container.
